Samad joined the group as a Master’s student at the University of Limerick, working on his final year project. The project, titled “Atomic Lego: Extraction and heterostructure building of 2D TMDs for the achievement of Novel Nano-devices”, centred on the fabrication and characterization of atomically thin Transition Metal Dichalcogenides (TMDs) and stacking them together for a new set of desired properties for application in novel devices. Samad received his MSc in Analytical Chemistry in 2015 and another MSc in Biomedical Device Materials in 2019.
He is currently a PhD candidate under the supervision of Prof. Ursel Bangert. His research focuses on integrating 2D TMDs with ferroelectric thin films to explore emergent properties due to the coupling between their intrinsic characters and their potential novel applications. In his spare time, he likes to play Cricket and MMA, reads philosophy and enjoys doing Art.
